2011 IAFF 3303 Golf Outing Benefiting Cameron’s Cause Foundation

Florence Professional Firefighters Local 3303 is proud to announce our annual golf outing. This year we will be golfing for the Cameron’s Cause Foundation. Here is some information about this great organization that we are proud to be helping this year:

Cameron Kelly Batson was a typical teenager pursuing his dreams of a Graphic Arts Design career and playing soccer. Tragically on October 6, 2010, Cameron, a Scott High School graduate and Captain of the varsity soccer team, died on the field while practicing with his only brother, Logan. Cameron’s cause of death was Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Dysplasisa (ARVD). This is a hereditary condition where the heart muscle is replaced by scar tissue. His brother has also been diagnosed with ARVD and has had a defibrillator implanted in his chest.

Cameron’s Cause is a foundation started by the family to help place Automatic Electric Defibrillators (AED’s) in area schools and at school sponsored athletic events.

You can learn more this organization by visiting the Cameron’s Cause Website.

Here are the specifics for the outing this year, which includes two “flights”:

Golf Outing For Jerry Sipe and Family

Today we held out 6th annual golf outing for our brother Jerry Sipe to benefit his family and unit while in Afghanistan. This event was very popular with numerous gold teams showing up from places even outside of the Fire/EMS community.

We began around 9 a.m. with a shotgun start for all of the teams involved and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. WCPO Channel 9 covered the event with interviews and scenes from the golf outing, and a thank you to them for their assistance!

It seemed everyone had fun, enjoyed themselves on such a beautiful day with great weather today for this golf outing.

The money raised will go to support Jerry’s family if they need anything while he is deployed serving his country, and secondarily, support our sending him and his unit care packages of essential items while he is deployed in Afghanistan.

If you would like to support Jerry, his family and his unit serving our country, please send a donation to:

Florence Professional Firefighters
IAFF Local 3303

ATTN: Jerry Sipe Fund

Thank you to everyone that participated in the golf outing this year, and for the support of the many sponsors that have continued to make this a special event we hold each year.

You can read more about Jerry and his unit from an article in the Community Press that was published in early June.
