Golf Outing For Jerry Sipe and Family

Today we held out 6th annual golf outing for our brother Jerry Sipe to benefit his family and unit while in Afghanistan. This event was very popular with numerous gold teams showing up from places even outside of the Fire/EMS community.

We began around 9 a.m. with a shotgun start for all of the teams involved and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. WCPO Channel 9 covered the event with interviews and scenes from the golf outing, and a thank you to them for their assistance!

It seemed everyone had fun, enjoyed themselves on such a beautiful day with great weather today for this golf outing.

The money raised will go to support Jerry’s family if they need anything while he is deployed serving his country, and secondarily, support our sending him and his unit care packages of essential items while he is deployed in Afghanistan.

If you would like to support Jerry, his family and his unit serving our country, please send a donation to:

You can read more about Jerry and his unit from an article in the Community Press that was published in early June.

Florence Improves ISO Rating

The Florence Professional Firefighters are pleased to announce the results of three years of hard work by its members.  A recent decision by the Insurance Services Office (ISO) has determined that the City of Florence will improve its ISO rating from a Class 3 to a Class 2 rating.  This will put the City into the top 1% of the fire department ratings across the country.

The Florence Fire Protection District will improve its ISO rating from a Class 9 to a Class 3.

These ratings will go into effect on July 1, 2008 and will substantially lower the insurance costs of the property owners in the City of Florence and the Florence Fire Protection District.

The last ISO rating the City of Florence Fire/EMS Department received was completed in 1995, so this rating review was long overdue.  It was completed by the hard work of the members of the Florence Professional Firefighters completing hydrant testing, preplan surveys and various other requirements in order to improve this rating.

You can read more about the ISO ratings change for the City of Florence and Florence Fire Protection District on the Kentucky Post website .
